We’re absolutely delighted to be able to share some brilliant news. Our incredible founder, Tanya Nichols, has been selected as a top industry professional as part of Investment News’ ’40 Under 40’ awards.

Investment News is a major industry publication, and Tanya was selected as one of the ‘40 under 40’ by key industry thought leaders and peers from nearly 1,000 nominations. It’s a lifetime honor for Tanya, as she’ll now be invited to speak at a yearly roundtable event with other industry leaders.

Tanya has long been a well established member of the financial advisory professional community. Her approach to both running her business, working with her clients and serving the financial industry at large has certainly garnered her a great deal of high-profile attention.

She’s been interviewed for popular podcasts and publications by industry giants such as Michael Kitces and Bob Veres and in January 2020 she spoke at InsideETFs, a key industry conference.

What is the Investment News 40 Under 40 Award?

Investment News says their 40 Under 40 program “recognizes and celebrates up-and-comers in the financial advice industry … who promote the financial advice profession, advocate for financial literacy and engage in pro bono financial planning work.”

It’s a national award that celebrates professionals in the financial advice field who have shown themselves to be exceptional, stellar talent, impassioned by their industry and demonstrating true leadership qualities that are moving the advice industry forward.

Despite not yet being 40 years of age, Tanya Nichols is already more than twenty years into her career in finance.

Having established herself as an outstanding team member at financial services giants, Wells Fargo and US Bank, Nichols identified a need for a more tailored advisory approach for women in or heading towards retirement. She founded and created Align Financial to help empower women to feel good about their money, by planning for a secure but fabulous future.

Tanya served as the 2019 chair of the Council on Examinations for CFP Board in Washington, DC, overseeing and advising on the examinations process for candidates intending to become a Certified Financial Planner.

A Recognition of Excellence and Outstanding Contribution

Always keen to support her colleagues and financial advisors, Tanya shares her wisdom, experience and credentials by offering coaching sessions for other advisors who she’s inspired along the way.

Recognizing that useful, applicable financial education is missing from kids’ mainstream learning, Tanya now teaches adult courses at Duluth Community Education. As well as teaching retirees essential skills, Tanya’s courses equip women of all ages with financial knowhow, building confidence in their ability to manage their money, and thrive.

Tanya says, “Being recognized by Investment News is a huge honor, but also feels like a great privilege. I hope that it brings some pride to my clients too, who have entrusted me with such an important aspect of their life and their wellbeing.

If you’d like to find out any more about this award, or if you’d like to see how Tanya and Align Financial can help you align your money with your life, please get in touch.
